Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd is opening a new R&D centre in Copenhagen
What is Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd?
Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd. (CML) has world-leading expertise in the mechanical, optical, electrical, software, and controller silicon design for compact actuator solutions. They are using their patented Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) platform technology. Solutions such as actuators based on SMA wire (thinner than human hair) can be controlled to the accuracy of the wavelength of light. These actuators are particularly suited to applications requiring high precision, such as smartphone cameras.
CML has established relationships with major global corporations across international supply chains. Their innovative solutions are produced and deployed by renowned manufacturers worldwide and have been successfully integrated into millions of consumer devices, including the recently announced Honor V3 and Vs3 smartphones equipped with SMA Lenses.
How will the new hub foster international collaboration?
This new hub will drive innovation in their SMA control algorithms, improving technology in smartphone cameras and other applications. CML is excited to leverage Denmark’s engineering expertise to continue to push the boundaries of what's possible with their driver IC solutions for SMA systems.
The CTO, Ben Brown, states on CML’s LinkedIn:
"Our decision to expand our operations into Copenhagen reflects our strategic direction to grow our investment in SMA control and driver ICs. The new R&D office brings us closer to some of the world's best talents in algorithm development and firmware implementation, and together with our actuator designs, we will meet the growing demand for robust and accurate high-force actuation in the smartphone camera market and beyond."
What does the future look like?
Niels Jacob Sand Mørch, Director of SMA Control Algorithms and Managing Director of CML Denmark, adds:
"I am looking forward to enabling the development of next-generation control algorithms, complementing CML’s strong portfolio of actuator and driver IC technology, to help strengthen our position as the world-leading supplier of SMA actuator solutions and products, both existing and new. We are actively hiring top engineering talents in Denmark to join the team, and together we will shape, design, and productise jointly optimised system solutions for superior performance, robustness, and scalability.”
Copenhagen Capacity contribution
Copenhagen Capacity has assisted CML in establishing itself in Copenhagen. This is the third time Niels Jacob Sand Mørch and Copenhagen Capacity have worked together to attract a foreign company to Greater Copenhagen.
