Barnaby travels to Copenhagen

Midsomer Murders, in Denmark known as ‘Barnaby’, travels to Copenhagen for a unique joint episode created with the producers of The Killing (Forbrydelsen).
Copenhagen Film Company and DR (Public Broadcaster) is collaborating with Bentley Productions, the company which makes Midsomer Murders, for the special episode, marking the 100th edition of the ITV series. “I’m a great fan of Nordic Noir (Scandinavian crime fiction) and we wanted to do something special to mark the 100th episode of Midsomer,” says Executive Producer of Midsomer Murders, Jo Wright.
The Killings at Copenhagen, DCI Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and DS Nelson (Gwilym Lee) travel to Denmark and work with their international counterparts when the body of a Midsomer resident is discovered in the Danish capital. The Copenhagen police are played by Ann Eleonora Jørgensen, the grieving mother of murder victim Nanna Birk Larsen in The Killing, and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, who was journalist Katrine Fønsmark in in Borgen. The UK scenes will be set in Midsomer’s most popular “murder location” - the village of Badger’s Drift.

Copenhagen Capacity has assisted Bentley Productions in finding proper locations and has introduced the British producer to potential Danish partners.
-The choice of Copenhagen as location underlines the fact that the film industry in the Copenhagen Capital Region has something to offer. Midsomer Murders is shown in more than 200 countries which will contribute to brand Copenhagen internationally, says Ulrik Bolt Jørgensen, Film Commissioner in Copenhagen Capacity.
The co-production, written by Paul Logue, is being made with funding from the newly founded Copenhagen Film Fund, which has been established to attract foreign film productions to Copenhagen.
