Ukrainian Software company Defies War and Opens Nordic Headquarter in Copenhagen

"We feel it's the right place to expand outside of Ukraine. We've been working in Denmark since 2018, but this is a new step. We've received a lot of support from our Danish clients," says Dmytro Kazymir, Head of Growth at Diceus.
Despite the challenges of commuting between Copenhagen and the Ukrainian capital, where sirens often sound due to Russian missiles, Diceus, a company specializing in high-level software solutions for major clients, is committed to this expansion in Denmark.
"We considered opening in the USA, but we chose Copenhagen. It's easy for us to establish a subsidiary, and the regulations are straightforward. There's also excellent access for Ukrainian employees to obtain work permits quickly," explains Dmytro Kazymir.
Contributing to the choice of Copenhagen as the location for its Nordic headquarters is the significant assistance Diceus received from Copenhagen Capacity.
"It's been very professional. We've received help with a range of practical issues regarding regulations and introductions to potential clients—basically, an understanding of the entire ecosystem for small and large businesses," says Dmytro Kazymir.
The company serves various Danish clients in the insurance, energy, and education industries, often providing complex database solutions. The goal is to have 20-30 employees in the coming years, specifically, the IT specialists that Danish clients are in high demand for.
"We hear it from everyone we talk to—that it's challenging to find software engineers. This is where we excel in Ukraine. There are around 200,000 in the country, and many companies have outsourced software development to Ukraine. So, we anticipate that most of our employees in Copenhagen will be Ukrainians," notes Dmytro Kazymir, who has recently partnered with Google's Danish division, focusing on Google's cloud services.
Copenhagen Capacity is extremely happy and appreciative for Diceus's decision to establish a Nordic headquarters in Copenhagen.
"It's a double win for us to attract a company like Diceus. We're gaining a new international business for Copenhagen, and it's bringing employees with skills that are in demand in Denmark," says Asbjørn Overgaard, CEO of Copenhagen Capacity. He adds,
"On a human level, it's also heartening. Ukrainians have shown such determination, and Diceus opening an office here during a war in their homeland demonstrates their dedication and fighting spirit."
